My partner and I did a research about The Lagoon club Hotel and Residence which is a new project in Abu Dhabi. We made a PowerPoint presentation which describes the features of this project. The Lagoon club Hotel and Residence project is the most interesting one.

There are several reasons which make me consider it to be the most interesting project. The first reason is the location of this project which is Abu Dhabi Corniche. This location is considered a hotspot for attracting tourists. Also, it is located near the sea where a lot of people visit there for relaxation. The second reason is that the Lagoon club Hotel and Residence contain a number of luxury rooms which is 380 rooms. Last reason is the leisure facilities in the Lagoon Club and Hotel Residence such as spa and swimming pools.

From my point of view, I think that Qasr Al Sarab project is not that interesting. The reasons which make me think this way is that its location is too far away from Abu Dhabi in the middle of desert. I think that not a lot of people would go there because they will need to have a four-wheel car and a budget for oil. However there is some good point for making it in the middle of desert which is to increase the green land area.

To conclude, some people may not agree with me, however I think both projects will increase the chance for people who are seeking for job opportunities.

Cool Cities Comments

Good adaptations
The first useful thing of the cool cities is the Hybrid cars which would help in decreasing carbon dioxide emissions which resulted from most types of cars.

The second benefit is the developing in the technique which reduces outside temperature and makes the city cooler.

The last good point of the cool cities is the solar powered farms which considered a good method to provide the city with energy and prevent sand from coming into farms.

Bad adaptations
The First bad thing is that the cool cities are using too much water to supply plants and what is required in the cities. This thing may cause a water shortage.

The second detriment is that some people may not want to change their currently life style and move to cool cities.

The last bad point is that cool cities would cost a huge amount of money in order to be built.

Carbon Footprint

Carbon footprint is a measurement of the effects of our activities on the environment. Specifically, it is a measure for the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouses gases which have increased due to human activities and caused the global warming problem. I did a carbon footprint survey at the website http://www.footprint.wwf.org.uk/ , and my carbon footprint result was 2.74 which was calculated by the website.

After I did the survey, I knew that there were several problems which I have to find some suitable solutions for in order do decrease my emissions of carbon dioxide. The area I scored the most poorly in was the traveling category. I use a medium size car to move from one place to another, not thinking about the distance and I use the car most of the day. The solution I figured out for this problem is I should start using buses. Group transportation is a good way to minimize the emissions from using the car. The second area I scored poorly in was the stuff area. I play video games a lot. I also turn on the television and I never turn it off even if I’m not watching. I think the solution for this problem is to use the electronic devices for a shorter time than I usually do. Another solution is to shut off anything after I finish using it. The last problem I have is in the food area. I eat a lot of meat and fish. It’s time to start buying some seasonal food.

In conclusion, I think that if I do my share in reducing the emissions I produce, this will make a difference and will help solving the global warming problem.

An inconvenient truth - Evaluation

I think that the American documentary film “an inconvenient truth” which was presented by Al Gore was very interesting and has a lot of information that we should know and we should be aware of doing anything that would help in increasing the amount of emissions that caused global warming.

The whole film was understandable because Al Gore used charts, videos, pictures and even some cartoon actions to make it as easy as possible. But from my point of view, it was unnecessary for Al Gore to mention his privet issues such as the one with his son and the other with his sister.

To conclude, I would say that the film was quite important however I somehow can not believe that Al Gore became interested in global warming for non-politician goal.

An Inconvenient truth - Summary

In the American documentary film “an inconvenient truth” which had been presented by former United States Vice President Al Gore. The film talks about the problem of global warming and what resulted from it. It also contained some ways to prevent the problem. Al Gore says that he became more interested in global warming issue after what had happened to his son and sister.

At the first part of the film, Al Gore shows us some charts about the relation between annual temperature and carbon dioxide levels. Due to the fact of the increase of carbon dioxide and temperatures are caused by pollution, people would know that global warming is caused by pollution. Al Gore says that the temperature in the earth is increasing; glaciers are vanishing; climates in a lot of places are becoming abnormal; so many natural disasters happen such as drought of lakes and flooding in a lot of countries recently.

At the second part of the film, Al Gore says that the catastrophic consequences global warming will happen if people do not pay attention in order to prevent it. As numerous glaciers and ice are melting, the sea level is increasing. This increase would make a lot of big cities such as New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, would be under the sea level on someday. Because of melting of the arctic glaciers the current will stop. Europe temperature would be dropped dramatically and the climate would be very cold like the ice age.

At the last part of the film, Al Gore illustrates that there are several ways to prevent global warming. The First way he stated was that people have to consider taking mass transit and saving water. He also stated that people should ask government to reconsider their environment rules and watch out carefully about things that may cause pollution.

Critical Thinking Summary

Critical thinking means that person’s thoughts are limitless. It also means that the person thinks about things deeply and has the ability to give feedback for different issues such as mathematical problems and puzzles.

It begins when someone thinks about a process deeply. For example, if someone wants to know the process of something such as how the elevator is working or how the car is moving, we could say that he or she is a critical thinker. Critical thinkers also think about what would happen to a device if we took out some part of it. They also think about the reasons of why things happen such as rain.

Critical thinkers always examine their own thoughts, beliefs, assumptions, and points of view and compare them against facts. They also listen to negotiation and ideas of other people carefully, and that enables them to give feedback and suspend judgment before making any kind of decision. When critical thinkers want to tell someone about their beliefs, they collect the evidence in order to be able to support the belief or to reject information that is incorrect or irrelevant.

According to Bloom, there are six categories for the levels of thinking. Starting from the most complex to the simplest, the first one is evaluation. It involves a lot of different things such as critiquing, rating and forming opinions. The second one is synthesis. It includes redesigning, recreating and putting things back together in a different way. The third one is analysis, which means to examine an opinion or an idea. The fourth one is application, which consists of using knowledge and comprehension and solving problems. The fifth one is comprehension, that is understanding, paraphrasing, and interpreting. The last one is knowledge which is consists of many things such as naming, recognizing, identifying and recalling.

There are several advantages of critical thinking which could be very important to us. The First benefit is that our mind will be able to comprehend a massive quantity of ideas. The second advantage is that we will be able to connect between different ideas and we may invent something new. The last benefit is that people will think of things reasonably.

To conclude, a lot of people can be considered as critical thinkers, such as parents, doctors, lawyers, judge and teachers. If you want to be a critical thinker, you should be interested in finding new solutions for different issues and you should have the ability to examine things. You should also become a good observer in order to understand processes.
